Crossing the Bridge: Technical Modernization and Business Continuity at Eckart. ECKART
ECKART GmbH is a leading global manufacturer of metallic and pearlescent pigments for the paint and coatings industry, as well as for graphic applications, plastics, aerated concrete, and cosmetics. The product portfolio ranges from metal effect pigments in various forms to finished metallic printing inks.
Eckart GmbH opted for an S/4HANA project to future-proof its globally deployed SAP ECC system while simultaneously modernizing ongoing operations with minimal risk. With its “Crossing the Bridge” approach, Eckart pursued the goal of minimizing business impact and initial investment while ensuring technical modernization and future viability via a brownfield approach.
CONSILIO had already proven itself in the S/4HANA assessment by an excellent collaboration and a partnership on equal terms. Since the jointly defined goals had been successfully achieved, CONSILIO was also chosen as the suitable partner for the conversion project.
Due to numerous customer-specific developments and parallel projects—such as a new bonus calculation system—a brownfield approach was the most efficient way to transfer existing processes in finance and logistics while taking into account the central corporate requirements for a global finance template. The migration included the transfer of master and transaction data from the previous finance conversion as well as the introduction of the new general ledger and asset accounting.
As a consulting partner, CONSILIO contributed significantly to the success of the project by applying its comprehensive expertise in S/4HANA conversion projects as part of a coaching approach. By collaborating closely with the specialist departments and implementing structured and transparent project management, ECKART and CONSILIO succeeded in reducing technical complexity in a targeted manner, identifying risks at an early stage, and making the transition efficient. This enabled ECKART not only to create a stable technical basis, but also to pave the way for future process optimizations and innovations.
