Issue Resolution in SAP Digital Manufacturing

Efficient issue resolution – collaborative and structured

SAP Digital Manufacturing for Issue Resolution

SAP Digital Manufacturing for Issue Resolution supports a structured and collaborative issue resolution process between customers and suppliers. The solution helps systematically identify root causes, derive suitable actions to prevent future issues, and document the entire process in a traceable way. Depending on the scenario, companies can flexibly act as customers, suppliers, or purely internally.

Starting an issue resolution process – overview:

Option 1: Via the Manage Issue Resolution Processes app

  • Supplier issue resolution: As a customer, you collaborate with external suppliers to analyze and resolve issues that have occurred.
  • Customer issue resolution: As a supplier, you handle issues reported by your customers.
  • Internal issue resolution: Issues are identified and resolved within your own organization.

Option 2: Triggering via a source system

Alternatively, the process can be initiated from a quality notification, for example in an SAP S/4HANA system. Depending on the type of issue, a distinction is made between:

  • Supplier complaint: Issues related to purchase orders
  • Customer complaint: Issues reported by the customer
  • Internal notification: Issues within the company

In supplier-related scenarios, external partners can also be involved in the process. They support not only root cause analysis, but also the definition and implementation of corrective actions.

Issue resolution methodology: 8D method

Overview 8D Problem Solving Process

Various methods are available for structured issue handling. The 8D methodology is particularly common, as it provides a clear, systematic approach – from issue identification and root cause analysis through to the implementation of sustainable actions.

SAP Digital Manufacturing supports both the standard 8D method and individually definable issue resolution approaches. The 8D method comprises eight consecutive steps for resolving issues.
