The digital connection between the shop floor and the cloud
The production connectivity model serves as a digital twin of your physical production environment. It digitally represents machines, equipment, transport systems and other shop floor resources, creating a central foundation for connecting and managing your production.
Each asset in the system represents its real-world counterpart and contains all relevant information required to execute and monitor production processes.
This includes:
Attributes
Static properties of an asset, e.g.:
Indicators
Dynamic values that change automatically, e.g.:
Target values
Defined target values for indicators, e.g.:
Imagine an oven in production:
The oven has indicators for temperature and pressure that change continuously. If a production employee wants to check the current temperature, the corresponding value can be retrieved directly via the asset. If the temperature needs to be adjusted, a new target value is stored and transmitted to the real asset.
The interaction works as if the employee were working directly with the physical machine.
The production connectivity model enables centralized data exchange between your production environment and SAP Digital Manufacturing.
The following components work together:
All configurations are maintained centrally in the cloud and then distributed automatically.
The production connectivity model creates a direct connection between real-world production and digital control – for greater transparency, automation and efficiency.
