Count+Care

A Digital Core for Future-Ready Solutions

This isn‘t just COUNT+CARE‘s vision – with SAP S/4HANA, it‘s now a reality.

COUNT+CARE, a subsidiary of ENTEGA AG, is an experienced energy market service provider that stands out for its in-depth expertise in metering, measurement, and billing – known as “shared services” – as well as its deep understanding of IT processes in the energy sector. In a dynamic market environment characterized by change, opportunities, and challenges, COUNT+CARE stands for forward-looking, modular service offerings – tailored, flexible, and provided from a single source.

As part of a strategic realignment, COUNT+CARE has consistently evolved through an agile process. To achieve this, it was necessary to adopt an ERP system that enables digital transformation and offers potential for the future: SAP S/4HANA. As part of the project, finance, controlling, and ware-house processes were converted, and initial digitization initiatives were implemented. A key highlight is the development of an app for tool management. Today, more than ever, the company stands for collaborative partnerships, digital excellence, and long-term customer success.

With its S/4HANA conversion, COUNT+CARE is taking the next steps toward digitalization.

Project Environment

COUNT+CARE’s SAP ECC system was becoming outdated. To ensure its future readiness, the ECC was migrated to S/4HANA as part of a brownfield conversion. At the same time, an EWM implementation was carried out following a greenfield approach.

Requirements and Challenges

  • Regulatory Environment
  • Main Challenge: High Complexity in Finance
    • Every project step had to be coordinated with auditors before implementation
    • Asset accounting. Every transformer station, every utility pole for high-voltage lines, every car, every tool, and much more is marked as an asset in the COUNT+CARE system.
  • Resource availability ensured by a small, decentralized project team on-site at the customer’s location with a limited number of key users
  • Dependence on third-party providers and add-ons, such as the invoice receipt workflow

We would like to thank CONSILIO for its structured project approach, which played a key role in the successful go-live of our S/4HANA transformation. The personal flexibility of their team members perfectly complemented our internal resources.

Project Objectives

The project’s objective was to carry out a technical system conversion using a pragmatic approach. Wherever possible, processes were realigned with the SAP standard, and the business partner functionality was implemented. Recommendations for action were implemented in a streamlined manner to enable a swift rollout of S/4HANA. Systematic optimization was not planned; only sensible measures were implemented within the constraints of time and budget. Opportunities for optimization were identified and documented. With S/4HANA, a digitalization platform for the future was established.

Project Methodology

The project was based on the SAP Activate methodology, tailored by CONSILIO, and was characterized by a clearly structured approach. Three test conversions (sandbox, development, quality assurance) were carried out before the final go-live.
The project plan was developed in collaboration with the client based on proven methods. The implementation followed a mixed strategy combining brownfield, beyond brownfield, and greenfield approaches:

  • EWM was implemented as a greenfield project
  • SD processes were comprehensively redesigned
  • MM and QM were also converted

With SAP EWM, the warehouse is under contol.

Projec Benefits for COUNT+CARE

  • Quick migration from SAP ECC to S/4HANA
  • Equipment loan processing
  • Mobile Pickup App replaces manual warehouse withdrawals for tools with automatic posting in S/4
  • New role and authorization concept

Next Steps

There are still tasks remaining from the Afterproject backlog that CONSILIO COUNT+CARE has assigned for follow-up. In addition, the Fiori implementation has not yet been fully completed—so far, only selected Fiori apps in Finance and EWM, as well as a few new apps for the warehouse, have been implemented.
