Production managers and employees are familiar with the problem: when production orders are confirmed, there is often not enough material in the storage area. The result? Manual reworking, time-consuming corrections in the system and unnecessary delays in the production process.

Imagine you want to consume 7 pieces of a component for a production order. However, only 4 pieces are available in the system due to a stock discrepancy. Previously, this meant that the confirmation failed or an incorrect posting was generated, which then had to be reprocessed manually using transaction COGI (incorrect posting monitor). This is a constant nuisance, especially in shift operations or with high capacity utilization - and costs valuable time.
With the release in October 2025, SAP is providing the new "Partial consumption and COGI splitting" function, which makes the process significantly more efficient:
With partial consumption and COGI splitting, you not only make your production more efficient, but also more resilient to material bottlenecks. The new function reduces manual effort, increases transparency and ensures a smooth production process - day after day.
