Credit management supports your company in determining the risk of bad debt towards your business partners at an early stage and in making credit decisions efficiently and partially automatically. With the introduction of S/4HANA, it is mandatory to use the new Credit Management in Financial Supply Chain Management (FIN-FSCM-CR). The user now has only one application at his disposal that is comprehensively integrated and operates across systems. Classic credit management (FI-AR-CR) is no longer supported. When switching to S/4HANA, it is important to ensure that your company's credit management data - business partners, master data and the transfer/update of open items from FI-AR - is transferred.
The changeover to the new credit management solution will result in decisive advantages for your company:
Depending on your existing solution in the ERP system, you have to plan appropriate activities for a change to S/4HANA.
Customers who used the classic SAP Credit Management solution in SAP ERP must also switch to the new FSCM Credit Management solution with the changeover to S/4HANA. Their business processes can generally be retained, but the technical settings must be analyzed and edited in detail. Existing settings that have been made in the area of credit management must be adapted accordingly to the new settings in Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM). The business partner plays a central role here. The data relevant to credit risk monitoring is stored in the corresponding business partner master record. This also includes the transfer/update of open positions from FI-AR to the business partner master record, including information on blocked sales orders. The SAP standard migration tools enable a simplified upgrade approach. Relevant customizing settings such as credit segments and risk classes are converted as part of the migration. New settings must be defined and stored directly in the S/4HANA system.
Then you can continue to work with your existing solution. It is not necessary to migrate the settings to FIN-FSCM-CR. Nevertheless, you should plan activities in the project for checking the SAP BADIs and for checking whether a conversion via SAP standard implementation is advantageous.
