A greenfield project requires a different approach than a migration. TRATON - in the course of the carve-out from MAN's SAP systems - deliberately opted for a greenfield approach. Instead of the old processes that no longer matched today's requirements or were based on older software, the full potential of S/4HANA was to be exploited. The aim was to break away from the old processes and redesign the processes in S/4HANA to meet future requirements. And to do so in the way SAP had envisaged - as far as possible in the standard.
The focus of the project at TRATON was clearly on finance, and the focus was on ensuring that the old finance processes ran smoothly in the new S/4 environment. After all, one of the goals of the newly founded umbrella company for the commercial vehicle business was to set up its own internal accounting system. Furthermore, the focus was on logistics and procurement processes in the MM and SRM modules, in particular order processing via the "shopping cart".
