The next generation of just-in-time processing in SAP S/4HANA enables smaller quantities of parts to be delivered directly to the production supply area of the line at the right time several times a day. This includes, among other things, the processing of quantity (JIT) and sequence (JIS) calls from both the outbound and inbound perspectives.

JIT Supply to Production (S2P)
JIT Supply to Production (S2P) covers the entire process from release to the supplier, warehouse or external service provider to the receipt of components and assemblies on the production line. The JIT call-off is sent from the production supply area to the warehouse or external supplier to request replenishment of materials. The production synchronous call-off can be sent for a vehicle schedule order.
JIT Supply to Customer (S2C)
JIT Supply to Customer (S2C) covers the entire process from receipt of the JIT or JIS call-offs to delivery and invoicing of the components or assemblies to the respective customer.
JIT supply begins with the receipt of the JIT call-off from the customer. These call-offs are directly relevant for shipping, provided there is sufficient stock available from in-house production or external procurement. The shipping process begins with delivery creation and ends with goods issue posting.
Next Generation JIT-Processing Highlights
- JIT production supply is possible for both JIT (JIT) and JIS (production synchronous) call-offs
- In a summarized JIT call, individual components are requested without reference to a production order. The JIT call-off is triggered by a shortfall of the minimum stock level
- In a just-in-sequence call-off, several components are requested for a specific production order, which must be delivered in the sequence of the production plan
- JIT processing is performed according to the sales delivery schedules. The JIT call-off is then sent to the supplier to request a delivery of goods
- Integration with SAP EWM embedded in SAP S/4HANA, enabling picking from SAP EWM for summarized JIT calls
- Communication groups can be created for multiple JIT call recipients, for example, for a supplier and an external service provider
- Store floor integration and migration via APIs so that, for example, a JIT call can be triggered by store floor automation
- Greater transparency through SAP Embedded
- Support for collective delivery confirmation with reference to multiple JIT call-offs
- High flexibility in component group and module determination through rule-based component group determination
- Simplified grouping of sequenced JIT calls, which enables grouping of sequenced JIT calls for packaging in the correct order
- Automated or manual JIT and JIS call-off generation based on JIT control loops. Combined JIT call-offs for coupled parts that have to be delivered together can be called off together
- Improved user experience through the new SAP Fiori user interface through, for example, the following apps:
- With the Fiori app "Manage JIT calls" it is not only possible to view, edit and cancel just-in-time calls, but also to change the priority of JIT calls, add delivery date and time and monitor the status of JIT calls and navigate to the application logs display
- With the Fiori app "Manage JIT control loops", the production planner for lean manufacturing creates and edits a control loop for each material used in the production supply area
