S/4HANA as a digital core means rethinking the nature of customer-specific developments.
The switch from Business Suite 7 - the classic ERP - to S/4HANA also means a shortening of upgrade cycles. To get the most out of your system, it is no longer enough to perform an EHP upgrade every 10 years. To fully benefit from new SAP developments, it is necessary to align with SAP's release cycles. For users of S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, this means a six-monthly upgrade, and for users of S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition or on-premise, a two-year cycle starting with the 2023 release. The comparatively short-term development approaches are intended to enable customers to be up-2-date at all times.
