Fiori is SAP's new user interface. It is a strategic product of SAP and more and more users are switching from GUI to Fiori. Meanwhile, several thousand apps have been developed by SAP for different business processes. To help managers select the right apps for their company, SAP provides the Fiori Library. While the product provides almost all the necessary information about Fiori apps, it is immense and some important features are not obvious at first glance. We list some essential aspects that are helpful for the development of your authorization concept and show you where to find them.
SAP Fiori Apps Reference Library is a catalog of all available apps from SAP. In addition to general information on the individual apps, it contains help on implementation, use and enhancement. The Fiori Library lists apps that run on an ECC system or on S/4HANA, as well as apps that have been adapted for the cloud or developed specifically for it. A corresponding selection is offered directly at the start:
Fiori Library gives different options of searching for an app. Among the selection options are search by business unit, industry, product version or SAP Best Practices. If you enter the search via the business unit, all available business units are displayed: from Human Resources to Supply Chain to Security Software.
If you select a business area from the selection list - for example, "#Procurement" - the individual associated apps are displayed. These are in turn divided into "SAP Fiori lighthouse apps," "What's New," "Other SAP Fiori apps," and "Other apps. Lighthouse apps are those that SAP considers to offer particular added value. The new apps are listed under "What's New".
If you are looking for a specific app, you can enter the relevant term - for example, "Purchase Order" - in the search field at the top. The result is a list of all apps that contain the term "Purchase Order".
In the middle of the screen under "App Details" all information about the app is displayed.
The following information is particularly helpful for the application and implementation:
1. Systems and releases for which the app is available. Automatically, the latest release is displayed. However, since the releases can have different properties, it is important here to select the correct release for further information.
2. General information such as business unit assignment or App ID. With the App ID, the permission administrator can, for example, search for the app in the Content Manager when setting up pages and areas for the Fiori Launchpad or activating the app.
3. Under Product Properties, there is information on how the app works, which can be jumped from via the App Documentation link to help.sap.com. The help page provides further details about the app, such as extension options.
4. Process flow and other screenshots graphically show the document flow and interface of the app.
5. SAP Best Practices in which the app is used.
Administrators will find everything they need to activate the app under the "Implementation Information" tab. All the necessary steps are described, from SAP notes and installation and configuration help to extension and support. Under Configurations, business roles that include the app are listed among other things. For testing purposes, the default business role can be quickly assigned to a user without having to develop a new role. Also listed are areas and pages that also contain the app in question, as well as the business groups with the app and the corresponding business and technical catalogs.
SAP provides support for setting up an authorization concept under the "Related Apps" tab: Related Apps are listed here with the corresponding relationship type. All apps that are assigned to this role can be found under "Other Apps in Purchaser". If you want to display other related business roles, click on the button next to it:
Did you know that every Fiori app can also be operated with GUI transaction after certain settings?
In the App Finder, next to the "Catalog" tab, you will find the "SAP Menu". If you click on it, the usual SAP Easy Access is displayed on the left side:
If you want to work with GUI transactions, you can enter the transaction code in the search field at the top right, and the corresponding transaction will open in the usual GUI display:
SAP Fiori Library is a complete catalog of all available Fiori apps and various implementation and usage information. Here, both users and administrators can find the initial help on how to use Fiori. The function of displaying related apps also simplifies the development of authorization concepts by suggesting further applications that are assigned to the corresponding business role.
