The maintenance of the large machine park was previously carried out outside of the SAP system. This meant that information on machine breakdowns and planned maintenance measures was only possible to a limited extent. Maintenance was carried out using paper documents and was very time-consuming.
The use of SAP PM enables both the continuous monitoring of the actual condition and the maintenance of the defined target condition of the machinery. This ensures that downtimes are reduced to a minimum and unnecessary costs are avoided, as all machines have the longest possible service life with low spare parts requirements.
The introduction of maintenance with maintenance planning in SAP created the basis for introducing mobile maintenance in a second step. With SAP PM, processes could be streamlined and the maintenance of machines could be better planned and handled by the system. This increased efficiency and reduced downtimes. Digital checklists made it possible to quickly document maintenance measures and machine inspections.
